Who we are
Selvana is a property marketing and curation service operating in the South African residential property market. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
Selvana is the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy.

What we collect, and why
We collect personal information you give us directly. We collect it for the purpose stated at the point of collection and we do not use it for anything else without telling you.
- Contact form (homepage). Your name and email address, used to respond to your enquiry.
- Seller enquiry form. Your name, email address, property location, and anything you write in the message field, used to assess whether the property is a fit and to reply to you.
- Listings notification form. Your email address, used only to notify you when new listings are published. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Direct correspondence. Information you send us by email, through the Selvana business WhatsApp number, or by direct message on our social media accounts, used to respond to and manage that conversation.
Where you become a client, we also hold the records necessary to carry out the work and meet our legal obligations: service agreements, property details, photography and written content, correspondence, invoices, and payment records.
Cookies and analytics
This site does not use tracking cookies. We may use privacy-respecting website analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate. Analytics data is not used to identify individual visitors. If our use of analytics changes materially, this policy will be updated.
Who we share it with
Web3Forms. Submissions from the forms on this site are processed by Web3Forms, which delivers the form data to our inbox. Web3Forms acts as our operator under POPIA and processes that information on our instruction. Selvana remains responsible for how your information is handled.
Sellers. Where you enquire about a specific property, we pass your details to the seller of that property so they can respond to you. This is stated on the form at the point of collection.
Registered property practitioners. Selvana is not a registered property practitioner. Where a transaction proceeds, it is concluded by a registered property practitioner, and the information necessary to do so is shared with them. Any practitioner we work with is responsible for their own handling of your information.
Service providers. We use specialist subcontractors, such as licensed aerial photography operators, and providers of email, hosting, and accounting services. They receive only what they need to do the work.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else without telling you first, unless we are required to by law.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not proceed. Retained for 24 months from last contact, then deleted.
- Listing notification signups. Retained until you unsubscribe.
- Client and property records. Retained for the period of the engagement and for five years afterwards, or longer where tax, company, or other legislation requires it.
- Financial records. Retained for the period required by the Companies Act 71 of 2008 and applicable tax legislation.
We will delete information sooner on request, unless we are legally required to keep it.
How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to secure personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and unlawful processing. These include encrypted connections to this website, access controls and multi-factor authentication on the accounts and devices used to run the business, restricting access to the people who need it, and reviewing the security practices of the service providers we use.
If a security compromise affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by section 22 of POPIA.
Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and request access to it
- Ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, misleading, excessive, or obtained unlawfully
- Object to the processing of your personal information
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator
To exercise any of these rights, contact the Information Officer at marce@selvana.co.za. We do not charge for access requests, and we will respond within the periods set by POPIA and PAIA.
Access to records
Selvana's manual in terms of section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 sets out the records we hold and how to request access to them. It is available here, and on request from marce@selvana.co.za.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
